how to reset zmodo camera

Zmodo makes a number of smart cameras for their home security system and offers them for an affordable price. If you’re having trouble with one of your Zmodo cameras, you may need to reset them.

Unfortunately, not all Zmodo cameras can be reset. Only the Mini WiFi camera and the Pivot and Pivot Cloud cameras have a reset button, and we’ve covered all the steps you need to know for these devices below.

If you have another model of Zmodo camera, you’re best bet is going to be to reach out to the company for troubleshooting and warranty repair (if it’s needed). We’ve provided a link to their support center at the bottom of this article.

The good news is that the process for resetting the Mini WiFi and Pivot cameras is quick and straightforward. And like resetting a Wyze camera, it only takes about 10 seconds.

How to Reset Zmodo Camera

To reset the Zmodo Mini WiFi camera, locate the Reset Pinhole on the side of the device. Insert a paperclip into the pinhole and hold it down for 10 seconds. You can also reset the Zmodo Pivot by pressing the Touch Pad ring and holding it down for 10 seconds.

Using The Reset Pinhole

Most of Zmodo’s cameras can be reset using a special pinhole on the side of the device.

To reset your Zmodo Mini WiFi camera, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the Reset Pinhole on the side of the camera.
  2. Insert a pin or paperclip into the hole.
  3. Press down and hold for 10 seconds, or until the status light turns off.
  4. Once the status light blinks green, you can set up the camera again.

Reset Zmodo Pivot and Pivot Cloud

While the Zmodo Pivot does not have a reset pinhole like the Mini WiFi camera, you can still reset it by following these steps:

  1. Ensure that the camera has power and is on.
  2. Press the Touch Pad ring on the top of the device and hold it down for 10 seconds.
  3. Release the Touch Pad.

Once the Zmodo Pivot has been reset, you will need to follow the instructions to set it up again.

Zmodo Cameras That Can’t Be Reset

Unfortunately, not all Zmodo cameras can be reset so easily. These include:

  • Sight 180 and 180C
  • EZCam and EZCam Pro
  • Pan and Tilt Camera and the Smart Pan and Tilt Camera
  • HD WiFi Indoor / Outdoor Camera

If you have one of the cameras mentioned in the list above, you will need to contact Zmodo to get technical support.

You can contact Zmodo through live chat, phone, or email by visiting their official support page.

They are available for phone support every weekday from 8AM-8PM Central Time. Email and Live Chat is available 7 days a week from 8AM-8PM on weekdays and 10AM-7PM on weekends.

Warranty and Support

If you purchased your Zmodo camera within the past 30 days, you can return it for a refund for any reason.

Once you are past the 30-day period, you enter the warranty period. Cameras that were new when you purchased them are covered for 1 year, while refurbished cameras are only covered for 90 days.

Conclusion

Zmodo is known for producing high quality cameras at affordable prices. Of course, they aren’t always error free, and on occassion you may need to troubleshoot some issues.

We’ve covered all the steps needed to reset Zmodo cameras that have the ability to be reset by the user. These are:

  • Zmodo Mini WiFi Camera
  • Zmodo Pivot
  • Zmodo Pivot Cloud

For cameras not listed above, your best bet is to reach out to Zmodo support and work with them to resolve any issues.
